Answers to common neurosurgery spine questions
What do I do if I develop a fever?
Fevers greater than 101.5 degrees may be significant.  For temperatures at or above this level that occur during normal clinic hours call our office and ask to talk to nurse practitioner.  You probably will need to be seen.  If your fever occurs during the evening on a weekend you should go to an urgent care center or a hospital emergency room to start your evaluation.  To locate the source of a fever you will need to be examined and undergo testing such as a chest x-ray, white blood count, an analysis of your urine and blood cultures.  The treatment will depend on the evaluation but may include antibiotic medication.
