Answers to common neurosurgery spine questions
How do I manage constipation?
Surgery, immobility, pain and narcotic pain medication can all lead to constipation.  To keep on top of this drink plenty of fluids, increase the fiber and fruit in your diet and walk.  Feel free to use any usual remedies found at the drug store and to consult with your pharmacist.  You may also wish to reduce the amount of narcotic pain medication you are taking if you are able.  If your problem is severe or persists please contact your primary care clinic for professional help including prescription medications and treatments that may be available.
